Periodontists have been using lasers in clinical practice since the 1980s. The active medium determines the wavelengths emitted from the laser, which dictates the physics of how laser energy interacts with the target. Hence, different laser wavelengths have different targets. This course will examine some of the uses of lasers in periodontal practice. Three experts present important information about the clinical use of dental lasers.
• Compare and contrast the wavelengths and treatments of soft tissue and teeth.
• Understand the decontamination of implants using the Er:YSGG wavelength.
• Understand the treatment of osteonecrosis of the jaws with the Nd:YAG wavelength
